Chalue Found Guilty In Triple Murder Case

David Chalue

Update: David Chalue was sentenced by Judge C. Jeffrey Kinder on Monday, May 19, to serve consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction for the murders of  David Glasser, Edward Frampton and Robert Chadwell.

He was given concurrent 8 to 10-year sentences on the other charges of kidnapping and intimidation of a witness.


SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — A jury found David Chalue, 47, guilty of murder, kidnapping and intimidation of a witness in the highly publicized triple murder.

Chalue was found guilty on three counts of first degree murder, three counts of kidnapping and three counts of intimidation of a witness after the jury deliberated over five days.

Judge Jeffrey Kinder ordered that he be held without bail pending sentencing on Monday at 2 p.m. in Hampden Superior Court.

Chalue is one of four men facing charges in the kidnapping and murder of David Glasser, 44, Edward Frampton, 58, and Robert Chadwell. The three men went missing from their Pittsfield apartment on August 28, 2011 and their bodies were found in Becket that September.

Adam Lee Hall, 34, was the primary defendant and he was found guilty and sentenced to three consecutive life sentences without the chance at parole. Caivus Veiovis, 31, is facing the same charges but has not gone to trial.

David Casey, 62, of Canaan, N.Y., is faced with multiple charges of accessory after the fact for allegedly providing the equipment to bury the three bodies.

     

Superior Court Briefs: May 9 - May 15

Cases heard before Judge Mary Lou Rup on Friday, May 9.

Joseph Mathews, 25, of Pittsfield pleaded guilty to a single count of possession of cocaine.

He was ordered to serve eight months at the Berkshire County House of Correction. The charge stems from an incident in Pittsfield on February 12, 2013.

Chad Foley, 19, of Lanesborough pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person who has attained age 14 and single counts of rape and abuse of a child, no force, and indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14.

He was ordered to serve one year at the Berkshire County House of Correction on the rape and abuse charge and placed on two years probation on the rest.

The incidents occurred in Pittsfield between July 1, 2012 and August 31, 2012 and involved girls who are now ages 16 and 14.

Gerald Gaetani, 64, of Pittsfield was found guilty by a jury of 12 counts of illegal possession of a large capacity feeding decide, three counts of illegal possession of a large capacity weapon or feeding device, three counts of improper storage of a large capacity firearm and single counts of illegal ownership of a firearm, possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number and improper storage of a firearm.

He was released on $10,000 cash or $100,000 surety bail pending sentencing on Monday, May 19. The charges stem from the execution of a search warrant at his Bradford Street home on March 3, 2012.

Anthony Shepard, 25, of Pittsfield pleaded guilty to a single count of receiving stolen property over $250 in connection with an incident that occurred on April 9, 2013.

He was ordered to serve 60 days at the Berkshire County House of Correction.

Douglas Starbird Jr., 28, of Pittsfield pleaded guilty to four counts of receiving stolen property over $250.

He was given an 18 months suspended sentence on two counts and fined $500 each for the other two counts. He must also perform 100 hours of community service work.

Starbird was in possession of stolen property on April 9, 2013.
