Pittsfield Police Seeking Info On Three Missing Men

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Police are seeking information about three men who have been missing since Aug. 28.

David Glasser, 44, Edward Frampton,59 and Robert Chadwell,47, were reported missing from an apartment at 254 Linden Street since last Sunday, when Hurricane Irene hit the county.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts or activities of them are asked to call police at 413-448-9700.

Pittsfield Pedestrian Killed on Route 7

LENOX, Mass. — A 46-year-old Pittsfield woman was killed shortly after midnight on Sunday when she was struck by a car on the Pittsfield Lenox Road.

According to Lenox Police, Stacy A. Macfarlane-Holmes was crossing the Pittsfield Road (Route 7) near the Price Chopper plaza on foot at about 12:39 a.m. when she was hit by a southbound 1998 Volkswagen New Beetle driven by Firas M. Kara of Lee.

Macfarlane-Holmes was in the southbound lane when the accident occurred but her direction of travel has yet to be determined. She was transported to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield where she was pronounced dead.

The state police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section is in the process of reconstructing the crash. Kara states that he never saw Macfarlane-Holmes in the roadway. This area of the Pittsfield Road is somewhat poorly lit and it was raining at the time of the collision.

Officers Ward and Lagarce responded to the scene. They were assisted by state police from the Lee barracks, the Pittsfield Police Department, the Lenox Ambulance and the Pittsfield Fire Department. 

This incident remains under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed this is urged to contact the Lenox Police at 413-637-2346. Officer Ward is the investigating officer.

Pittsfield Police Increasing Patrols At Burbank Park

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Police will have be zero tolerance of juveniles misbehaving at Burbank Park.

According to Police, lack of supervision has led to fights, disturbances, alcohol and marijuana use on the trails south of the beach concession stand - away from the concert venue - and will now step-up its enforcement.

Parents are urged not to drop children off unsupervised at the park, particularly during scheduled events. There will be patrols throughout the area and unsupervised juveniles may be criminally charged or trespassed from the park for inappropriate behavior.

     

Alleged Thieves Plead Not-guilty in Court

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A city man accused of armed robbery of La Fogata Restaurant and a Becket man accused of a series of break-ins both entered not guilty pleas in Berkshire Superior Court on Friday.

Michael Swenson III, 19, of Tyler street had not guilty pleas entered on his behalf on one count of armed robbery while masked and two counts of assault by means of a dangerous weapon. He ordered to be help on $50,000 bail.

Swenson allegedly covered his face with a bandana and robbed the restaurant shortly after it closed last weekend with what was described as a black handgun. However, other reports stated that the gun that was used was a pellet gun. 

Michael Pieri, 25, of Becket entered not guilty pleas in Berkshire Superior Court on an array of charges.

Pieri is charged with 15 counts of breaking and entering in the nighttime, six counts of larceny over $250, 15 counts of malicious destruction of personal property over $250, eight counts of larceny in a building,  four counts of receiving stolen property over $250, and single counts of illegal ownership of a firearm, possession of ammunition with a firearm identification card, improper storage of a firearm and common and notorious thief.


Judge Daniel Ford released Pieri on personal recognizance.

The charges stem from a spree of house break-ins in Becket between November 23, 2010 and July 11, 2011.

Cases heard before Judge Daniel Ford on Monday, August 15.

William McFadden, 27, of Pittsfield pleaded guilty to single counts of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and drug violation in a school zone.

McFadden was sentenced to one year at the Berkshire County House of Correction on the marijuana charge and two year sentences on the school zone violation. He was placed on three years probation on the cocaine charges.

McFadden was in possession of cocaine and marijuana when he was arrested in Pittsfield on May 7, 2009.
