Southern Vermont Softball Team Holds Tryouts

BENNINGTON, Vt. -- The under-16 Southern Vermont Bat Brats fast pitch softball team will hold tryouts for the summer 2015 season on Saturday, Aug. 23, from noon to 2 p.m.
 
To be eligible, you must be 16 or under on Jan. 1, 2015.
 
The team offers the opportunity to imrpove your skills and extend your school softball seasno.

The team will make arrangements for players unable to make the Aug. 23 tryouts if notified in advance.
     

Drury Boys, Flynn & Dagnoli Get Giorgi League Wins

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Hayden Bird scored 21 points, and Justice Marable had 10 to lead the Drury High boys basketball team to a 58-37 win over Mount Greylock on Thursday in the John Giorgi Summer Basketball League.
 
Marable added seven rebounds and a couple of blocks for the Blue Devils.
 
Jake Benzinger scored 16 with seven boards, and Michael McCormack scored 10 for the Mounties.
 
Manchester, Vt.'s, Burr & Burton Academy posted a big win over McCann Tech behind a big night for Joey Shehadi.
 
Shehandi scored 21 with five rebounds and four blocks in the Bulldogs' 81-40 win. Tyeshawn Gadson scored 19, and Connor Harrington and Taylor Muench each scored 17. Harrington grabbed 10 rebounds for B&B.
 
McCann's Shane Fuller scored 18, and Rahmer Vincent and Cristian Montoya each had nine.
 
In the Open Division on Thursday, Flynn & Dagnoli defeated Key West, 68-50.
 
Lawrence Carrier scored 30 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked two shots for the victors. Keiland Cross scored 18, and Dean Steinman added 13 points and 10 boards.
 
David Vidal scored 25 for Key West.
     

Drury Boys Top Hoosac in Giorgi League

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Justin Girard and Kareen Beckett each scored 12 points to lead the Drury High School Blue Devils to a 49-40 win over Hoosac Valley in the John Giorgi Summer Basketball League on Wednesday night.
 
Beckett grabbed six rebounds, and Cam Lesure scored 10 points for Drury.
 
Jameson Coughlan scored 12 , and Avery Hall had 10 to lead the Hurricanes.
 
On Tuesday night in the Giorgi League Women's Division, Lucy Tremblay scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead Tony's Electric/Flynn & Dagnoli to a 41-35 win over Mount Anthony Union High School of Bennington, Vt.
 
Michelle Boudreau scored eight points with six boards for Tony's.
 
Mount Anthony was led by Madison main with seven points and Emily Hutton with six.
 
Williamstown Physical Therapy rolled to a 63-40 win over Teddy's Pizza behind 16 points from Alia Curry.
 
Shannon Garvey scored 12 for WPT.
 
Peyton Steinman and Jen Giardiana scored 11 and 10, respectively, for Teddy's.
     

Bird, Moonlight Soar in Giorgi League

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Nolan Bird scored 34 points to lead Moonlight Diner to a 94-55 win over Bloom Property Management in the John Giorgi Summer Basketball League Open Division on Monday night.
 
Adam Garner scored 16, and Geoff Kondel added 13 and nine rebounds in the win.
 
Bloom's Nick Bourdon scored 16 points, and Tyler Benoit and Nick Aitken had 14 and 11, respectively.
 
Moresi and Associates defeated Dentral Radio, 64-43, behind Ty Rochester's 22 points and eight rebounds.
 
Mike Meany scored 17 with five 3-pointers for Moresi.
 
Travis Severs scored 19 and Chad Pulver had 14 for Central Radio.
     

Maurice, Delrosario Lead MCLA to Giorgi League Win

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Paul Maurce and Ruben Delrosario each scored 15 points to lead MCLA/Deep Insurance to a 66-58 win over BFAIR/North Adams Law in the John Giorgi Summer Basketball League at the Armory on Sunday evening.
 
Maurice also had 12 rebounds and a block in the win.
 
BFAIR was led by Brett Denning with 10 points and Bruce Bushey with nine.
 
In Sunday's other game, Joe Wiggins scored 21 points to lead Berkshires Finest to a 62-54 win over Pete's Gun Shop/Maselli & Field.
 
Brandon Casella scored 14, and Eric Schibi added 13 for Berkshires Finest.
 
Russ Beauchamp and Tim Bornt each had nine for Pete's.
