PITTSFIELD , Mass. – Ella Bassi and Amanda Pou led the Pittsfield girls softball team to its ninth consecutive win on Friday.

The Generals knocked off Minnechaug, 7-0, at the Doyle Complex, avenging a loss to the Falcons nearly a month ago.

Pittsfield’s offense came alive on Friday behind Bassi, Kamryn Renata and Natalie Arnhold.

The silence ended in the fourth inning, when Isabella MacDonald led off with a double and later the first run of the game on an error.

It was 3-0 when Bassi hit a two-run homer. Later, Arnhold singled and eventually stole third and stole on a wild pitch.

The Falcons offense came out strong with two two-out hits in the first inning, and Minnechaug loaded the bases before Pou got a called third strike.

She finished the game with eight strikeouts in a complete-game effort in the circle.

The Generals celebrated Senior Day defensively with highlight plays by Macdonald and Bassi.

Mackenzie Blair struck out eight in the circle for Minnechaug.

“These girls are really great, honestly, they always back each other up,” Pittsfield coach Brian MacDonald said. “Their passion for this sport is incredible. They always do their job. it’s really amazing.

“I see a really strong team here, and I feel like if they continue to play how they are, we will make it very far in the playoffs.”

Pittsfield (11-2) will face Westfield on Tuesday.
