Pope Francis Nine Edges Pittsfield in Eight Innings

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – The Pope Francis baseball team Tuesday scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning and went to a 9-6 win over Pittsfield on Buddy Pellerin Field.
 
Johnny Gosselin went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Cardinals’ offense.
 
Gosselin’s RBI double in the top of the seventh tied the game, 5-5, and forced the extra inning.
 
Roshan Warriar led Pittsfield at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Jack Abel went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and a pair of walks.
 
Pittsfield (5-5) will play Monument Mountain on Thursday in Cooperstown, N.Y.
