Doris J. Mazza, 95
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Doris Juliet Mazza, 95, of 22 Veazie St., died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at Williamstown Commons.Born in Williamstown on June 17, 1914, daughter of Hector and Cecelia Reopel Boyer, she graduated from the former Williamstown High School in 1932.
Mrs. Mazza was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing and was an excellent seamstress.
She was a communicant of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church. She was well known for the dolls she made for church bazaars at St. Anthony's, the former St. Raphael's Church in Williamstown, and the former St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Stanislaus Kostka churches in Adams.
Her husband, Albert T. Mazza, whom she married July 4, 1940, died on April 27, 1993.
She leaves three daughters, Carole Kalisz and her husband, Henry, of Williamstown, Jean Kochman of Azusa, Calif., and Judith Mellyn and her husband, Kevin, of Bronxville, N.Y.; a son, John Mazza and his wife, Marie, of Adams; a sister, Madeleine Boyer of Williamstown; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Donald Boyer and Bernard Boyer, and two sisters, Blanche Young and Gertrude McGowan.
FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Mrs. Mazza will be held Friday, Jan. 15, at 10:15 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals West Chapels, 521 W. Main St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 from St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown.
Calling hours will be Thursday, Jan. 14, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth's Church, Williamstown Commons Patient Activities or the charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
