Field an Honorable Mention All-America at NCAA Swim Meet

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Hoosac Valley graduate and Roger Williams University senior Ellie Field earned all-America Honorable Mention at the 2022 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships over the weekend.
 
Field of Adams and RWU teammate Riley Williams each were recognized for their performances at the IUPUI IU Natatorium.
 
Field earned the recognition in the 100-yard freestyle event while Williams got it in the 400 individual medley for the Hawks.
 
Field competed in the 50, 100, and 200 Freestyle events over the weekend and while her top finish was in the 100, she set program-record times in all three events.
 
Williams, meanwhile, competed in the 200-Yard Breaststroke as well as the 200 and 400 IM, setting a program record in the 200 Breaststroke.
 
Field is just the second female in RWU swimming and diving history to make the national meet while Williams is the first male to do so. They each are the first swimmers in program history to score points at the meet.

Koperniak Homers Twice in AAA Win

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Hoosac Valley graduate Matt Koperniak recorded his second two-home run game of the year on Tuesday for the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds.
 
Koperniak went 3-for-5 with four RBIs for the St. Louis Cardinals affiliate in a 13-11, extra-inning win over the Nashville Sounds.
 
Koperniak's seventh-inning round-tripper to straightaway center field came in a five-run rally for Memphis to overcome a four-run deficit.
 
For the season, Koperniak is hitting .321 with 41 runs batted in and 12 homers. He has a slugging percentage of .517 for the Redbirds, who are 5-3 after Tuesday's win to lead the International League West in the second half of the season.
 
Memphis finished the first half of the season in fourth place in the 10-team division with a record of 38-37.
