The name change was announced last year during the annual Memorial Day service at the Field Park rotary, one of several high-profile events for the Legionnaires throughout the year.
Commander Seehafer's visit to Dalton will include a meet and greet with local veterans, and a light luncheon where discussions will focus on the ongoing programs and initiatives of the American Legion, including the "Be The One" campaign.
The ceremony is held throughout the nation around Feb. 3. This is the first time it has been held in Western Massachusetts, said Kevin Hamel, assistant state chaplain with the American Legion.
