Town meeting will be asked to authorize a number of spending articles, including a $21 million budget. Of that, $10 million is the assessment to the Central Berkshire Regional School District and $9.4 million is the town operating budget.
Town officials are trying to set the record straight on an expected bump in tax bills after an alarming figure was quoted at Monday's Select Board meeting.
The board also accepted a $3,000 donation from the Katharine L.W. and Winthrop M. Crane 3D charitable foundation for the Dalton Free Public Library. The funds will assist in updating the library's juvenile nonfiction collection.
Following the amendment the committee voted to approve the new budget total in the amount of $1,501,152, a 11.4 percent increase from the previous year.
The Select Board began its review of the fiscal 2024 budget during its meeting on Monday night, going over about a half-dozen department spending plans.
