Taconic Boys Cross Country Edges Monument Mountain
GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- Jacob Paris placed first, and Zabion Powell provided a key finish to lead the Taconic boys cross country team to a pair of wins at Monument Mountain on Wednesday.
Paris won individual honors, crossing the line in 17 minutes, 14.70 seconds, three seconds ahead of Monument Mountain’s Peter LaRochelle (17:17.81).
Taconic as a team edged the host Spartans, 27-29, in their dual meet. The win was secured when Powell crossed the line in 13th place overall, two places ahead of Monument’s No. 5 runner.
Monument Mountain’s boys went 1-1 on the day, defeating Wahconah in their dual meet. Wahconah earned a 24-35 win over Mount Everett with P.J. Pharmer (17:50.65) leading the way with a fourth-place finish.
Mount Everett’s boys were led by Cole Duval, who placed fifth in 17:51.53.
There were three girls duals contested on Wednesday, and Wahconah took home a pair of wins thanks to a 1-2-3-4 finish from Haley Crosier (20:36.70), Gabby Orlando, Danni Orlando and Alexis Henderson.
Taconic’s Simira Hanger broke up a Wahconah run of five runners in the top six. Hanger placed fifth in 23:39.59 to lead her squad to a 19-44 dual meet win over Mount Everett.
The Eagles got a 10th place finish from Carly Duval (24:19.45).
