Ann A. Nixon Williams

Ann A. Nixon Williams, 88, of 498 South St., died yesterdayat Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Fall River on March 4, 1918, daughter of Stanley and Julia Banach Nixon, she was educated in Pittsfield schools and graduated in 1935. She later attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, where she was an art major. Mrs. Williams was a lifelong resident of Pittsfield, where she was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Teresa's Church. She enjoyed painting and art. Her husband, Edward I. Williams, whom she married in 1950, died Aug. 7, 1988. Mrs. Williams leaves a son, Thomas E. Williams of Windham, N.Y.; and a sister, Regina Nixon of Pittsfield. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Ann A. Williams, who died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, will be Friday, Feb. 9, at 10:30 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Teresa Church, celebrated by the Rev. Mark Mengel, SSC, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may go to St. Teresa's Church in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Mrs. Williams was predeceased by two brothers, Walter Nixon and Frank Nixon; and a sister, Leona Nixon.
