Margaret Anthony, 90
ADAMS, Mass. - Margaret "Irish" Anthony, 90, of 13 West Road died on Monday, March 14, 2011, at home surrounded by her family.
Born in Adams on Feb. 4, 1921, daughter of Thomas F. Haggety Sr. and Mary Montville Haggerty, she attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School with the class of 1939.
Mrs. Anthony was primarily a homemaker, but had worked as a hairdresser and also as a school bus driver.
She was a communicant of the former St. Thomas Aquinas Church. She was very active in town affairs and was the founder of Susan B. Anthony Days in Adams. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies' Auxiliary and a past officer for the Women's Relief Corps.
She leaves her husband, Ralph E. Anthony Jr., whom she married on July 6, 1946; three daughters, Linda A. McDonald of Newtown, Conn., and Lucy Czaja and Virginia Gajda, both of Adams; a brother, Thomas F. Haggerty Jr. of Adams; eight grandchildren, Heidi McDonald Craigue, Sarah Czaja Sookey, Shannon McDonald Campbell, Angela Gajda, Gretchen Czaja Mahood, Brian Gajda, Kelly Gajda and Morgan Czaja; seven great-grandchildren, Richard Sookey, William Anthony Lawrence, Summer Sookey, Adian Dean, Sidney Sookey, Harrison Mathew Craigue and Ada Mahood, and nephew, Thomas M. Haggerty, and a niece,Kathleen Goodrich.
FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Mrs. Anthony will be on Thursday, March 17, at 9 a.m. from Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 in Pope John Paul the Great Church by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor. Burial will follow in Maple Street Cemetery, Adams.
