Pearl A. Sharples, 89

ADAMS, Mass. — Pearl A. Sharples, 89, of 4 Columbia St. died Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield after a short illness. Born on Nov. 11, 1921, in Pittsfield, a daughter of Stephen and Beulah Hoag Harter, she attended Drury High School in North Adams. Mrs. Sharples was employed for 34 years at the former Sprague Electric Co., retiring in May 1985. She was a member of First Congregational Church in North Adams and International Union of Electrical Workers (IUE) 200 at Sprague Electric. Her husband, Roy C. Sharples, whom she married on Sept. 28, 1940, in Pittsfield, died on July 30, 1980. She leaves a daughter, Judy O'Neil and her husband, David, of Adams; a brother, Joseph Harter of Versailles, Mo.; his sister, Dolores Saviski of Pittsfield; three granddaughters, Karen Bossio and her husband, Robert, Tami Dunham and her husband, Charles, and Kimberly Orsi and her husband, David; three great-grandchildren, Savanna, Kristen and Evan, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and her beloved cat, Sophie. She was predeceased by her daughter, Geraldine B. Marley, on March 18, 1993, and by five sisters and two brothers, Adeline Roy, Pauline Burke, Dorothy Nietsce, Geraldine Harter, Charlotte Sparhawk, Harold Harter and Howard Harter. FUNERAL NOTICE — A graveside service for Mrs. Sharples will be held in the springtime in Southview Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions can be made to the Berkshire Humane Society or the charity of the donor's choice through Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
