William D. Delisle, 79
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. â€' William Dieudonne Delisle, 79, of 35 Willow Dell died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in North Adams on Jan. 26, 1932, a son of Armand and Violet Bresette Delisle, he attended schools in North Adams
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the Army in Japan.
Mr. Delisle was the owner of Delisle's Building and Remodeling Co. He previously had been employed by the former Berkshire Mills in Adams and at the former Sprague Electric Co. He also worked part time at the former Pop's Store convenience store on Union Street.
He had been a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church. He was an avid reader and gardener and loved to crotchet. He also enjoyed fishing in the local waters.
His wife, the former Irene Popielarczyk, whom he married Jan. 29, 1955, in Notre Dame Church, died June 17, 2005.
He leaves two daughters, Mary Tanner and her husband, Bryan, of Clarksburg and Susan Galipeau of North Adams; a son, Robert Delisle and his wife, Christa, of Plymouth; a sister, Mary Lewis and her husband, Thomas, of North Adams; a brother, Robert Delisle and his wife, Nancy, of North Adams; six grandchildren, Aimee Tanner Kelly and her husband, Preston, Daniel Tanner and his wife, Martha LaValley Tanner, and William Galipeau, all of North Adams, and Beth Delisle, Charles Delisle and Julia Delisle, all of Plymouth.
He was predeceased by his son William Delisle Jr. in May 1958 and his brother Joseph Delisle.
FUNERAL NOTICE â€' Funeral services will take place Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 6 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams.
Calling will be Tuesday from 4 to 6 at the funeral home. Flowers maybe sent or memorial donations are suggested for the North Adams Public Library through the funeral home.
