Robert M. Matte Sr., 60

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Robert Michael Matte Sr., 60, of 94 Summit Ave. died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at home. Born in Shoreham, Vt., on June 21, 1950, son of Romeo and Yvonne Page Matte, he attended the former Notre Dame School and Drury High School. Mr. Matte was employed at the former Arnold Print Works and in construction. He also worked at Berkshire Place in Pittsfield. In his younger years, he traveled around the country working in construction. He was a member of New Life Community Fellowship in Dalton and was a very generous person who worked behind the scenes to help family and friends. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He leaves his wife, the former Wendy Amlaw, whom he married on May 11, 1985; a son, Robert M. Matte Jr. of Cheshire; two daughters, Katheryn "Katie" Matte and Cassandra "Cassie" Matte, both of North Adams; three brothers, John Matte and Noel Matte, both of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., and Richard Matte of Adams; seven sisters, Francoise Matte of Eagle Bridge, N.Y., Louise Weber of Buskirk, N.Y., Suzanne Matte of Laconia, N.H., Marie Ciuk of Petersburg, N.Y., Diane Baczek of Plainville, Conn., Christine Salvato of Adams and Theresa Matte of Oxnard, Calif.; four grandchildren, Chelsea Waters, Tyler Matte, Robert M. Matte III and Leyah Brown; three stepgrandchildren, Ashley LaBlue, Audrey LaBlue and Saundra Holt; a great granddaughter, Micheline Waters, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Gisele Merrills and Reginald, Yvon and George Matte. FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Matte will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 29, at 11 from New Life Community Fellowship, Hubbard Avenue, Dalton. Burial will be in the spring in Clarksburg Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, Jan. 28, from 4 to 7 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army in care of the funeral home.
