Rose Vareschi, 99
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Rose Vareschi, 99, of 150 Ashland St., died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at North Adams Commons.
Mrs. Vareschi was born in North Adams on April 10, 1911, daughter of Gregorio and Marianna Cirullo Catrambone. She attended North Adams schools, including Drury High School.
She was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for 25 years until her retirement in 1973.
She was a communicant of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church, and was a member of the Christian Mothers, the Jollee Circle and Sprague Retirees. She enjoyed calling bingo at the Mary Spitzer Center and crocheting.
She married her husband, Joseph E. Vareschi, on Aug. 29, 1942. He died on June 22, 1975.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Frances Hiser of North Adams, a granddaughter, Jennifer Rose Hiser of North Adams, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was particularly close to her niece Diane DiSanti Arabia.
She was predeceased by her brothers Michael and Joseph Catrambone and sisters Domenica Grande, Teresa Deso, Elizabeth Mastroianni, Mary Antoinette Catrambone, Rita DiSanti and Angela Catrambone.
FUNERAL NOTICE - A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Vareschi will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will be at a later date in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will take place at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, on Saturday morning from 9 to 10:30. Memorial contributions may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
