Peter D. Foote, 77

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Peter Daniel Foote Sr., 77, of 435 Walnut St., died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at North Adams Regional Hospital.

He was born in North Adams on Jan. 18, 1933, son of Edward and Mildred Hambelton Foote. He graduated Drury High School with the class of 1951.

Mr. Foote was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was employed at the former A & P Supermarket on Ashland Street for more than 40 years as the meat manager. He also worked for Meals on Wheels. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church.

He loved his family, sports, particularly football and baseball, and enjoyed fixing things.

He is survived by his wife, the former Dale Cilli, whom he married Jan. 31, 1953 in the former St. Anthony Church. He also leaves a daughter, Gail Foote and her husband, Bradford, of Leominster; a son, Robert Foote and his wife, Karen, of Adams; and a daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Foote of Pittsfield; a granddaughter, Michaela Foote and two step-grandsons, Kris and Kyle Magaral, all of Pittsfield.

He was predeceased by his son, Peter Daniel Foote Jr., two grandsons, Peter Foote III and Thomas Foote, who died in infancy, as well as three brothers, Edward, David and Wesley Foote.

FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Peter Foote Sr. will take place Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours are Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels. Memorial donations can be made to the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
