David G. Chiettini, 83

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - David G. Chiettini, 83, of Yale Street died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010. Born in Readsboro, Vt. on May 14, 1927 to first-generation Italian immigrants Giuseppe and Olive Rizzardi Chiettini, he was proud of his Italian heritage but even prouder of the American life he and his family carved out in his hometown of North Adams, where he grew up and resided his entire life. He attended Drury High School. A Navy veteran of World War II, he enlisted in 1945 before finishing his schooling. He served aboard a minesweeper in the Pacific theater as a seaman, first class. Returning home at the end of the war, Mr. Chiettini went back to work at the former Sprague Electric Co., where he had begun working while still in high school. He retired from Sprague with more than 46 years of service. Mr. Chiettini loved the people of North Adams, all his fellow workers at Sprague, and most of all he loved his family. He was one of the true "old timers" of North Adams, said family, and had "a good life," as he would always say. He will be sorely missed by his beloved family. He leaves his nephew, Rick Noel and his wife, Michelle, of Bennington, Vt.; grandnephews Jesse, Gabriel and Caleb Noel, and cousins Mario and Sylvia Rizzardi. He was predeceased by his sister, Gloria Noel. FUNERAL NOTICE - Graveside services for Mr. Chiettini will be held Saturday, Dec. 4, at 11 a.m. in Southview Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams is in charge of arrangements.
