Charles E. Lefebvre, 98
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Charles E. Lefebvre Sr., 98, of 86 West Main St., died Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at Sweet Brook Care Centers.
Born in St. Philippe, Quebec, on May 2, 1912, son of Evariste and Marie Louise Serre Lefebvre, he attended schools in Canada. He came to this area at an early age.
Mr. Lefebvre was first employed by the Boston and Maine Railroad and later worked at the former Windsor Print Works. He was last employed by the former Cornish Wire Co. in Williamstown until his retirement in 1974.
He was a communicant of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church. He was an 80-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 310 and a member of its Inside Guard. He was also a member of the Greylock Community Club, Trout Unlimited, International Union of Electrical Workers (IUE)and AARP.
His wife, the former Angelina Canale, died on March 18, 1985. They were married on Oct. 17, 1939.
He leaves a son, Charles E. Lefebvre Jr. of Pittsfield; a daughter, Carmen Brendza and her husband, Larry, of North Adams; a sister, Gertrude Fields of Williamstown; grandchildren Kathy Lefebvre, Laurie Lefebvre, Kimberly Lefebvre, Heidi Blake, Glory Whipple, Michael Lefebvre and Robert Lefebvre; nine great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by his siblings Marie St. Jacques and Jacques, Aimee, Paul, Leo, Romeo and Gascon Lefebvre.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Lefebvre will be Thursday, Nov. 18, at 10:15 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, celebrated by the Rev. Eugene Plasse. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Sweet Brook Care Centers or Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 310 in care of the funeral home.
