Edna E. Rudnick, 86

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Edna Elise Rudnick, 86, of 150 Ashland St. died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at North Adams Commons. Mrs. Rudnick was active in the community as a volunteer and as a longtime member of the city's Planning Board, which she attended regularly until recently falling and breaking her hip. She was admitted to North Adams Commons on Aug. 30 for rehabilitation. Born in Clarksburg on June 25, 1924, daughter of Ralph A. and Gladys Van Etten Prince, she graduated from Drury High School and attended American University in Washington, D.C., majoring in pyschology. She and her late husband, Stafford Rudnick, operated the former Merry-Go-Round nightclub in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., for many years until her retirement. Mrs. Rudnick was chairman of the North Adams Council on Aging and, until this past June, a board member of the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition. She was the president of the Friends of the North Adams Public Library, served on the steering committee of the United Neighborhood Organization, or UNO, and was involved with the tenants association at the high rise. She received the Carol Hess Award for her many years of volunteering in the community. Her husband, whom she married on Feb. 11, 1952, in Hoosick Falls, died on Oct. 21, 1985. She leaves two brothers, Neil Prince of Eureka, Calif., and Roger Prince of Eugene, Ore.; a sisters, Norma Fairgrieve of Lodi, Calif., and nieces and nephews. Her brothers Ralph and Lloyd Prince are deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Mrs. Rudnick will be held Friday, Nov. 19, at 11 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. A calling hour will be held Friday morning from 10 until the time of the service at the funeral home.. Memorial donations may be made to the North Adams Public Library or the Mary Spitzer Senior Center in care of the funeral home.
