Paula Floriani, 72

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Paula Floriani, 72, of 892 South Church St. died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010 at North Adams Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Germany on Nov. 24, 1937, a daughter of Paul and Helene Stanislawa Schwarck, she was educated there. In August 1959, she married Louis Floriani and on Oct. 18, 1960, she moved to the United States to raise her family. Mrs. Floriani was employed at Steinerfilm in Williamstown. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. She enjoyed traveling and visiting family in Germany. She loved her animals and spending time with family. She leaves include three daughters, Heidi Bailey of Adams, Erika Floriani of Bennington, Vt., and Cynthia Cottrell of North Adams; two sons, Eric Floriani of Readsboro, Vt., and David Floriani of North Adams; her longtime companion Salvatore "Babe" Ferrara of North Adams; and 11 grandchildren, Ian, Erin and Ellen Floriani, Mark and Adams Cottrell, Heather Morris, Trevor and Scott Bailey, and Tylor, Stephen and Jonathan Purdy. Several siblings and relatives live in Germany. FUNERAL NOTICE - Funeral services will take place Tuesday, Oct. 12, at 10:15 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Elizabeth Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, Oct. 11, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the American Red Cross Blood Mobile Program through the funeral home.

Thank you all for your comments here and in the North Adams Transcript. I would like to take the time also, that in our mother's memory we are sponsoring a blood drive at the American Legion in North Adams on the 20th of November. The hours will be from 11 until 4. Please consider stopping by and making a donation. My mother needed over 100 units of life saving blood and palettes during her last 10 months of life. She would love to be able to pay it forward.
