Beatrice J. Conroy, 91

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Beatrice J. "Aunt Bea" Conroy, 91, of 70 East Quincy St., died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010, at North Adams Commons with her niece Nancy Walker and sister Judy Walker at her side Born in North Adams on July 31, 1919, daughter of Joseph and Mary Cantone Sharkey, she graduated from Drury High School. Mrs. Conroy was last employed at the former James Hunter Machine Co. and, in her younger years, as a secretary at the former Casino Bowling Lane, a business owned by her father. She was a communicant of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church and a member of the Jollee Circle, the Italian Girls Club and the St. Anthony Rosary Society. She was a prominent bowler in the North Adams Women's League and the Italian Girls Bowling League. Her husband, Francis J. Conroy, whom she married Nov. 27, 1952, died on May 19, 1986. Besides her niece, who was also her caregiver, of North Adams, and her sister, of Terryville, Conn., she leaves another sister, Sylvia Keehnle of Pittsfield; her niece's son, David Dunn and his family, and daughter, Laurie Booth and her family, and other nieces and nephews including Christine Sniadach and her family, Debra Ursini and her family, Dan Walker and his family, Charles Sarchi and his family, and Michael Sarchi and his family. She was predeceased by her sister Marion Senecal and two brothers, Edmond and Carl Sharkey. FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Conroy will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at 11 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday morning, Sept. 18, from 9 to 10:30 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams.
