Myrtle E. Geist, 86
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Myrtle Elizabeth Geist, 86, of 765 Simonds Road died Thursday July 22, 2010, at Williamstown Commons.
Born in Williamstown on Nov. 11, 1923, a daughter of Joseph T. and Violet Blanche Lamphier Wiles, she graduated from the former Williamstown High School in 1941.
Mrs. Geist was employed for 30 years at North Adams Regional Hospital as a certified nursing assistant in the maternity department.
She was a lifelong member of St. John's Episcopal Church and was a longtime member of the Richard A. Ruether Post 152 American Legion Ladies' Auxiliary.
Her husband, Ernest Geist, whom she married June 1, 1942, died June 1, 1976.
She leaves a great-grandson, Ian L. Sirk of Evans, Ga., and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her sons Charles Geist, in infancy, and Joseph E. Geist, on Dec. 3, 2009; her granddaughter, Sara Geist-Sirk, on Aug. 11, 2007; and her siblings Dorothy Martel Moody, May Maxon, and George and Frank Wiles.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services will take place Tuesday, July 27, at 11 from St. John's Episcopal Church in Williamstown. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Monday from 5 to 7 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Memorial donations are suggested for VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home.
