Ruth C. Girard, 81
SAVOY, Mass. — Ruth Clarabelle Girard, 81, of 1264 Main Road, died Thursday, July 15, 2010, at Craneville Place in Dalton.
Born in North Adams on July 6, 1929, daughter of Harry and Sophia Sullivan Embry, she attended North Adams schools.
Mrs. Girard was last employed at the then Modern Aluminum Anodizing in North Adams. Before that, she had worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams and Pfister Aluminum.
She was a communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church in North Adams.
Her husband, Wilfred Arthur Girard, whom she married Oct. 1, 1995, died on Dec. 29, 2007.
She leaves a daughter, Patti Ann Girard of Savoy, with whom she made her home; two sons, Dennis W. Girard of Utica, N.Y., and William A. Girard and his wife, Caroline, of North Adams; two sisters, Carol Levesque of North Adams and Nancy Dewey of Connecticut; a brother, Harry Embry Jr. of the town of Florida; three grandchildren, Jonathan Girard, Trevor Girard and Miranda Girard, all of North Adams, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and her special friend, Eleanor Benoit of North Adams
Three sisters and one brother predeceased her: Mildred Brouillett, Virginia Shaw, Leona Embry and Nelson Embry.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Girard will be Monday, July 19, at 10:15 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours are Sunday, July 18, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
