Clifford C. Domenichini, 87

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. â€' Clifford Claudio Domenichini, 87, of Pines Lodge Park, died Saturday, June 12, 2010, at home following a short illness. Born in the town of Florida on May 3, 1923, son of Joseph and Mary Bedini Domenichini, he grew up in Readsboro, Vt., and graduated from the former Readsboro High School in 1941. A decorated Army veteran of World War II, he was inducted in 1943 and served under Gen. George S. Patton Jr. in the campaigns of Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. During one conflict, he volunteered to connect communication lines under heavy enemy fire; for this bravery he received the Bronze Star. He was also awarded the Good Conduct, American and Victory medals and was honorably discharged in 1945. Mr. Domenichini was employed by the former Deerfield Glassine Paper Co. in Monroe and then in the machine shop at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for 25 years. He retired from the former GE in Pittsfield. After retiring, he assisted his daughter, Sheila Bouley, in managing her business, the Village Flower Shop in Williamstown. During this 15-year period, he became known and loved by many customers. He enjoyed woodworking and in a small shop behind his home, he created many toys, whirlygigs and animal figures in a folk-art style. He also had been Cub Scout leader and coached The Spragues, a Babe Ruth Baseball team, when his children were young. He was a beloved father and husband. He and his wife, the former Dolores Bailey of North Adams, were married in November 1946. Besides his wife of 63 years, and his daughter and her husband, John Bouley of Stamford, Vt., he leaves two sons, Clifford J. Domenichini and his wife, Kristine, of Schaghticoke, N.Y., and Alan Domenichini of North Adams; two brothers, Carlo Domenichini of North Adams and Orlando Domenichini and his wife, Elsie, of Pittsfield; a sister, Alice and her husband, Albert, of North Adams, whose last name was not provided; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and his beloved Yorkshire terrier Teddy. FUNERAL NOTICE â€' The funeral for Mr. Domenichini will be Wednesday, June 16, at 11 from, Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown. There will be no calling hours. A celebration of his life will follow at the home of his daughter, Sheila Bouley, 171 Jepson Road, Stamford, Vt. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home.
