Donald C. Rougeau, 82
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Donald Charles Rougeau, 82, of 514 West Main St. died Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at Williamstown Commons.
Born in North Adams on Sept. 25, 1927, son of Louis A. and Eva Elliman Rougeau, he graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the Air Forces.
Mr. Rougeau was employed by Williams College for 20 years, until his retirement in 1987. Before that, he was in partnership with his father in Louis A. Rougeau Trucking Co.
He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. He was a 60-year member of Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a life member of the Greylock Community Club and a former member of the North Adams Elks.
An avid golfer, he was a 40-year member of the Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown and a former member of the North Adams Country Club. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He and his wife, the former Gloria J. Arabia, were married April 3, 1948, at the former St. Anthony of Padua Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Craig D. Rougeau and his wife, Cynthia, of North Adams and Jeffrey T. Rougeau and his wife, Anna, of Lake George, N.Y.; a brother, Louis G. Rougeau of New Hampshire; a sister, Sandra Tatro of North Adams; five grandchildren, Tracy McConnell and her husband, John, Eric Rougeau and his wife, Kimberly, Kristin Stroebel and her husband, Lawrence, Daniel Rougeau and his wife, Diane, and Nicole Rougeau; five great-grandsons, Patrick, Kyle, Corey, Bennett and Luke, and nieces and nephews.
A sister, Lorraine Lamoureaux Cozzaglio, is deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Rougeau will be Monday, Jan. 25, at 10:15 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funeral, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
