Lucille Burt, 92

STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. â€' Lucille Nocher Burt, 92, former longtime resident of Interlaken Road and of Heaton Court, died Sunday evening, Nov. 1, 2009, at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington. Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 17, 1917, daughter of Marcel and Katherine Nocher, she attended local schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1934. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Burt worked briefly as a teacher's aide at the former Stockbridge School and later at Country Curtains. During World War II, she worked at General Electric in Pittsfield. An active member of her community, she was a member of First Congregational Church, where she volunteered much of her time. She was a strong family person and enjoyed gardening and canning food for her family. She also enjoyed sewing and reading and will be remembered as a wonderful baker. Mrs. Burt spent time traveling and stayed in numerous elder hostels all over the world with her friend, Mickey. Husband, Robert C. Burt, whom she married May 25, 1949, died on Nov. 23, 1991. She leaves two sons, Clinton R. Burt of Sheffield and Frederick A. Burt of Lee, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Another son, David Burt, died in 1966. FUNERAL NOTICE â€' Funeral services celebrating the life of the late Mrs. Burt will be conducted on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 11 from Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington by the Rev. Steven Bridges. Burial will follow in Stockbridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10 until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church in Stockbridge through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
