Donald Kickery, 87
MONTEREY, Mass. — Donald Kickery, 87, of Pine Street died Sunday evening, Nov. 1, 2009, at Great Barrington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Born in Stockbridge on Feb. 26, 1922, son of Frank and Bessie Hewitt Kickery, he attended local schools and graduated from the former Williams High School in Stockbridge.
Mr. Kickery retired from the former Gans Furniture and Appliance Store in Great Barrington after working as a repairman for more than 35 years. He had first worked for the former Monument Mills and the former Birchwood Farms.
A skilled handyman, he spent many hours woodworking in his shed behind the house, as well as fixing broken appliances and televisions. He also enjoyed singing and calling square dancing in Interlaken.
He and his wife, the former Naomi Fuller, were married on Sept. 23, 1944, in Pittsfield.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Donald E. Kickery and his wife, Denise, of Great Barrington; a daughter, Susan Delamater and her husband, Robert, of Hillsdale, N.Y., and four grandchildren, Cody Kickery of Great Barrington, Nicki Wilson of Newport News, Va., and Derek and Kyle Delamater of Hillsdale.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Kickery will be conducted on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington, by the Rev. Charles VanAusdall. Burial will follow in Corashire Cemetery in Monterey.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Nov. 4, from 4 until 7 at the funeral home.
