Candida LeBert, 81

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Candida "Rose" LeBert, 81, of Bostwick Gardens died peacefully Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at Fairview Hospital, surrounded by her family. Born in Framingham in 1928, daughter of Antonio and Adelaide Gomes Joaquin, she was raised in Acushnet. Ms. LeBert worked as a seamstress, Realtor and for many years as a supervisor and caregiver to the elderly ladies of Rol-Ann Rest Home in New Bedford. She moved to Sheffield in 1997. She was a member of the Moose Lodge and Panther Lady Club in New Bedford. She will be missed by her many friends at Bostwick Gardens and First Congregational Church of Sheffield. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family said they will miss her loving advice, smile, the energy to do something exciting, conversation, stories, New England boiled dinners and willingness to always be there when she was needed. She leaves a son, Barry Williamson and his wife, Martha, of Sheffield; a daughter, Janice Young of New Hampshire; two brothers, John Joaquim and Horace "Jack" Joaquim, both of eastern Massachusetts; grandchildren David Makara and his wife, Kristin, of New Hampshire, Tricia Williamson of Boston and Trevor Williamson and his wife, Melanie, of Sheffield; great-grandchildren Kaylee and Morgan Makara and James and Adam Williamson and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Alyce Gallion, Irene Medeiros and Mary Rosa. FUNERAL NOTICE — A funeral service celebrating the life of Ms. LeBert will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 1 from Finnerty and Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington. Burial will follow in Sheffield Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church of Sheffield, referencing "Call-To-Care," or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
