Betty A. Ross, 90
SHEFFIELD, Mass. â€' Betty A. Ross, 90, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at the Mill River home of her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Ann "Betsy†Colhoun and Herbert Abelow, surrounded by her family and friends.
Born in Trumball, Neb., on June 30, 1919, daughter of Robert and Joy Edwards Rigg, her family moved to Denver, where she attended schools and earned a degree in nursing. She raised her family in Pawling, N.Y., and also resided in Destin, Fla.
Mrs. Ross was active in the Pawling community. She was past president of the Pawling Garden Club and Bridge clubs, a deacon of Christ Church on Quaker Hill, and a volunteer to various organizations. She was an avid gardener and a much-sought-after bridge partner in San Destin.
She will be remember by her many friends and family as a warm and loving woman. Besides their four children, she and her husband were also privileged to include in their extended family H. Anthony McDonald and Karen Maureen LeMarquand of Old Fort Bay, Quebec.
Her husband, Clifford L. Ross, whom she met in Denver and married on Sept. 7, 1941, is deceased.
Besides her daughter and son-in-law, she leaves a son, Clifford Dean Ross and his wife, Lisa, of The Villages, Fla.; a sister, Shirley Haskins of Virginia Beach, Va., seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased two sons, Robert Dean Ross and Michael Rigg Ross.
