Philip Davis, 91
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Philip Davis, 91, of 860 North Hoosac Road died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at his home.
Born in North Adams on Nov. 29, 1917, son of Said and Amelia Haddad Davis, he attended North Adams schools including Drury High School.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the infantry.
Mr. Davis was employed by Mount Greylock Bowl until his retirement in 1982. Before that, he worked at the former Hoosac Cotton Mill.
He enjoyed playing baseball, fishing, and bowling.
His wife, the former Ada Holland, whom he married Aug. 20, 1942, died on Aug. 3, 2001.
He leaves his adopted daughter, Eileen Caropreso of Tampa, Fla.; two brothers, Najib "Pat" Davis of Adams and Joseph Davis of North Adams, four grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Another adopted daughter, Linda Scaia, is deceased as are his sister, Jeanne Lawson, and three other brothers, Alfred, George and James.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A graveside service for Mr. Davis will be held Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 11 a.m. in Southview Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
