Francis J. Hitchcock,Jr., 69
SHEFFIELD, Mass.  Francis J. "Hitchie" Hitchcock, Jr., 69, of Home Road died Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington.
Born in Sheffield on June 13, 1940, son of Ethel Markham Hitchcock of Sheffield and the late Francis J. Hitchcock, Sr., he attended local schools.
Mr. Hitchcock worked for the town of Great Barrington for 14 years, retiring in 2002 for health reasons. He had previously worked for many years logging for Blue Hill Logging as well as for the former Barbieri Lumber in Great Barrington.
He enjoyed the outdoors, both hunting and fishing, and cherished spending time with his family. Many weekends he could be found at his daughter Lisa's home in Sheffield. Everyone who knew him would say, "he was good people."
He and his wife, the former Elizabeth "BettyAnn" Snyder, married on Nov. 21, 1959, in First Congregational Church.
Besides his wife and mother, he leaves two daughters, Lisa Gomez and her husband, Greg, of Sheffield and Susan Crane and her husband, Gary, of Sheffield; a brother, Thomas Hitchcock of Sheffield, and three grandsons, Tom Clark, Nick Crane and Alex Crane, all of Sheffield.
FUNERAL NOTICE  In keeping with Mr. Hitchcock's wishes, a service celebrating his life will be conducted on Monday, Aug. 10, at 1 p.m. at the home of Lisa and Greg Gomez, 1400 Home Road, Sheffield, the by Rev. Jill Graham.
There will be no calling hours.
