Emiel A. Zustra, 82

POWNAL, Vt. â€' Emiel Alexander Zustra, 82, of 82 Lincoln St. died Friday, July 10, 2009, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Dec. 18, 1926, son of Alexander and Mary Belan Zustra, he attended Brooklyn schools. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Zustra was employed by General Electric Co. in Pittsfield, Mass., for 25 years, retiring in 1986. Before that, he had worked at Mullen Mayflower Movers in Adams, Mass. He enjoyed reading, watching movies, and gardening. He had a love of animals. His wife, the former Ruth Clock, whom he married on Aug. 29, 1949, died on Feb. 24, 2007. He leaves three daughters, Linda LaBonte and Debora Harpin, both of North Adams, Mass., and Penny Barcomb of Saratoga, N.Y.; two sons, John Zustra and Joseph Zustra, both of North Adams; a sister, Mary Zustra of Brooklyn; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Zustra. FUNERAL NOTICE â€' A private graveside service for Mr. Zustra will be held in Southview Cemetery in North Adams. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
