Kenneth Russell, 92

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Kenneth Russell, 92, of 778 South Church St. died Friday, June 26, 2009, at Williamstown Commons. Born in North Adams on July 23, 1916, son of Ernest and Bernice Davis Russell, he attended city schools, including Drury High School. Mr. Russell was employed at the former Sprague Electric Co. for 44 years, retiring as a general foreman. He also worked at the Big Y Supermarket and with the security force at Windsor Lake campground. He was a member and sexton of First Baptist Church. He played semi-pro baseball in the Twilight League and once scored a hole-in-one at Taconic Golf Course. His wife, the former Lillian Blair, whom he married on May 28, 1949, died on Feb. 22, 2000. He leaves his longtime companion, Evelyn Ciempa of North Adams, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Ermyn Beall, and a brother, William Russell. FUNERAL NOTICE — Graveside services for Mr. Russell will be conducted Friday, July 3, 2009, at 1 in Southview Cemetery by the Rev. David Anderson, pastor of First Baptist Church in North Adams. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
