Ronald H. McGrath, 65
ADAMS, Mass. â€' Ronald Howard McGrath, 65, of 1304 Alyssa Drive, Groveland, formerly of Adams, died Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Pilgrim Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Peabody.
Born in Sussex, N.J., on Dec. 2, 1943, son of Ruth Hunt McGrath and the late Ernest McGrath, he graduated from Newark College of Engineering and received a master's degree from Rensselaer (N.Y.) Polytechnic Institute. He resided in Adams in the 1960s. He had retired to Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., and then moved to Groveland in December 2007.
Mr. McGrath worked for many years at Honeywell in Billerica until his retirement in 2002. He had first been employed as an electrical engineer at the former General Electric in Pittsfield.
An avid sports fan, he enjoyed golf and bowling, participating in several leagues. He was a member of the Elks Club in Ocean Isle Beach.
He and his wife, the former Betty Ann Raschdorf, were married on Nov. 5, 1966, in the former St. Thomas Aquinas Church.
Besides his wife and mother, of Fort Mills, N.C., he leaves a son, Kevin McGrath of Essex; four brothers, Ernest McGrath of Leesburg, Fla., Harold McGrath of Franklin, N.J., Donald McGrath of Little River, S.C., and James McGrath of Fort Mills; two grandchildren, Logan McGrath and Connor McGrath, and nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE â€' A memorial service for Mr. McGrath will be held Friday, June 5, at 10 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Maple Street Cemetery in Adams.
