Georgette C. Bradway, 82

STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — Georgette Clemence "Gite" Bradway, 82, of 92 East Main St. died after a long illness on May 3, 2009, surrounded by her family at Providence Care Center in Lenox. Born in Liege, Belgium, on Oct. 12, 1926, the youngest child of Lambert Mathieu and Celine Thomas Dalmans, she attended schools there. She emigrated to the United States in 1952. Mrs. Bradway was a seamstress, and among the first home-stitchers for Country Curtains, working there from 1956 until 1996. She also worked with the Katherine Meagher Dress Shop. She also enjoyed many other activities: knitting, braiding rugs, quilt making, furniture refinishing and re-upholstering, and playing the organ. She was an excellent cook. Together, over the course of many years, she and her husband, Charles Frederick Bradway, completely renovated their home. They also enjoyed traveling in their recreational vehicle and visited many parts of the United States. She attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church and had served on the Altar Guild. She and her husband were married on Sept. 10, 1949, in Liege, where Mr. Bradway was stationed after World War II. Their first son, Gary Bradway, was born there. When his enlistment was up, the family returned to the United States, taking up residence in Stockbridge. Mr. Bradway died Jan. 16, 2009. Besides her son and his wife, Sherrie, of Stephentown, N.Y., she leaves two other sons and their wives, Jeffry and Marcella of Pittsfield and Richard and Kimberly of Washington; four grandchildren, Chelsea Bradway Francis of Southborough, Benjamin and Jonathan Bradway, both of Pittsfield, and Henry Bradway of Washington, and a great-grandson, Max Francis of Southborough. Her brother and sister Jules Dalmans and Jane Dalmans, both of Liege, predeceased her. FUNERAL NOTICE — The family of Mrs. Bradway will receive friends on Thursday, May 7, from 5 until 7 at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington. A funeral service at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, followed by burial at Stockbridge Cemetery, will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Patient Fund at Providence Care Center of Lenox through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
