Elmer G. Huntoon, 23

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Elmer George Huntoon, 23, of 1393 South State St. died Saturday, April 25, 2009, of an accidental drowning while fishing. Born in Charleston, S.C., on Aug. 9, 1985, son of Donald Dubreuil of North Adams and Pamela Huntoon of Pittsfield, he graduated from Drury High School and attended at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Mr. Huntoon had worked a several companies in Berkshire County and was a volunteer for the Salvation Army and numerous organizations in North Adams and Pittsfield. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He loved to go fishing and was a commentator for the call-in show "Slingshot!" on Northern Berkshire Community Television's Channel 15. His loss is deeply felt by his immediate family and many relatives, and his buddies at the Pitcher's Mound. His friends, who were brothers in life and spirit, were glad to experience their "ride with the captain." Besides his parents, he leaves his brother, Joseph Alan Huntoon; a niece, Morgan Huntoon; his paternal grandmother, Diane Pratt; his paternal grandfather, Robert Dubreuil; his paternal great-grandmother, Orella Robare; his maternal grandfather, Harold Scutt, and other relatives on his mother's side, Julia, Harold, Elizabeth, Alice and Jennie. FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mr. Huntoon will take place Friday afternoon, May 1, at 1 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 11 until the time of the service. Memorial donations are suggested for in his memory through the funeral home.

I only knew him for 1 year, and that was our 7th grade in Dalton. I am sad to hear about his passing, and wish his family comfort going forward.

My Deepest condolences to the family and friends of Elmer.

Elmer was a community activist! His death has not only affected his family, but has also deeply affected many members of local prestigious organizations, such as B-Fair, United Cerebral Palsy, Association for Community Living, Special Olympics, Nothern berkshire Community Television Corporation, and especially the "Speceil Forces!" Community Television Group.

I would like to mention The following facts about Elmer that you may not know:

* He was a Vice President of the "Speceil Forces!"

* He was a racer in the Fall Foliage Bed Races

* He participated in the Fall Foliage Parade

* He was a member of the Berkshire Special Olympic Basketball And Softball Teams

* He was on the verge of doing his own call-in
television show

There is actually so much that we could say but we are not allowed space to mention all of Elmers accomplishments!

Thank you, Elmer, for all of your community efforts, and all the help you provided!

May your spirit always live in our community!
