Lillian M. McDonnell, 73
SHEFFIELD, Mass. — Lillian M. McDonnell, 73, formerly of Sheffield, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. She had resided at Cameron House in Lenox for the past year.
Born Lillian Mitchell in New York State on July 22, 1935, her family moved to the Berkshires when she was young and she was educated in local schools. She moved to Ocala, Fla., in 1983 and returned to Sheffield in 2000.
Mrs. McDonnell was employed as a nurse's aide at Great Barrington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for many years, before moving to Ocala, where she was activities director at Stone Gate Nursing Facility.
She enjoyed baking and cooking, and cherished spending time with her grandchildren.
Her husband, John McDonnell, is deceased.
She leaves a son, Robert McDonnell of Sheffield; a daughter, Kathryn Hoctor and her husband, Timothy, of Becket; two brothers, Robert Mitchell and "Bud" Mitchell, both of New York State; a sister, Alice Mitchell of New York State, and two grandchildren, Lukus McDonnell and Kevin John Hoctor.
She was predeceased by her husband John McDonnell.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. McDonnell will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 11 from Finnerty and Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington. Burial will be held in the spring at Sheffield Center Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Feb. 11, from 10 until the time of the service.
