Florence R. Diodati, 80
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. â€' Florence Ruth Diodati, 80, of 182 Bridges Road died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Pownal, Vt., on Feb. 24, 1928, a daughter of Fritz Karl and Mariann Wabnig Hannaleck, she moved to Worcester age of 12 and attended Worcester Commerce High School and Worcester State Teachers College. She later moved to North Adams and then Williamstown.
Mrs. Diodati was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. She also worked at the former Boston Store as a store clerk and was a child-care provider for several area families.
She was a longtime communicant of the Parish of St. Patrick-St. Raphael and a member of its Ladies' Guild. She was a church greeter, a volunteer at the Williamstown polls and a supporter of Right to Life. She had been one the finalists for queen of the Fall Foliage Court. Her main focus in life was being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker and, in her later years, enjoyed traveling through the United States to visit her sons and grandchildren.
She and her husband, Robert Joseph Diodati, were married on June 13, 1953, in the former St. Francis of Assisi Church. They met while working at Sprague's.
Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, Michael Robert Diodati and his wife, Kathleen, of Jamison, Pa., Robert J. Diodati Jr. of New Hampshire and Andrew D. Diodati and his wife, Melissa, of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Lillian Schafer of Pittsfield and Dorothy "Dottie" Poplaski of Pahrump, Nev.; a brother, Clarence "Bud" Hannaleck of Largo, Fla.; former daughter-in-law, Ann Diodati, eight grandchildren, Michael R. Diodati Jr., Heather L. Diodati, Nicholas R. Diodati and William R. Diodati, Andrew Diodati, Mercy Diodati, Mirriam Diodati and Melody Diodati, and nieces and nephews,
She was predeceased by an infant daughter, Mariann Diodati, in 1963 and her siblings Freda Davis, Doris Heyes, Helen O'Neill, Ethel Roy and Eric Hannaleck
FUNERAL SERVICES â€' A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Diodati will take place Monday, Feb. 9, at 11 from St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown.
