Barbara Keating, 70

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Barbara Keating, 70, of Yuman, Ariz., formerly of Williamstown, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at home after a long illness. Born in Adams on Jan. 21, 1938, daughter of Agnes LaMarre Bressett of Williamstown and the late Harold Bressett, she attended Williamstown schools. She moved to Yuma in 1977. Mrs. Keating had been employed in financial services for most of her career until 2005, when she began doing what she loved, working with children. She was employed by the Western Arizona Council of Governments' Head Start program. Her family said she lived on her own terms, always placing others above herself. She will be sorely missed by all whose lives were enriched by her, especially the children she touched through her work at Head Start. During her last days, she was visited by relatives from all over the country, neighbors, friends and former co-workers. Mrs. Keating had the loving care of her family and Hospice of Yuma. She and her husband, Lloyd Keating, were married in Williamstown in 1959. Besides her mother and her husband, she leaves a daughter, Sarah Allsman; three sons, Bruce Keating, Brian Keating and Kevin Keating; two sisters, Carole Lillie of Friendswood, Texas, and Patricia Girard of Beaufort, S.C.; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and 12 nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE — Mrs. Keating's ashes will be scattered across the locations she requested. No services are planned. Yuma Mortuary and Crematory is handling arrangements and cremation.
