Agnes Bressett, 94
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Agnes Bressett, 94, of Cameron House Assisted Living in Lenox, formerly of Williamstown, died Tuesday evening, Jan. 20, 2009, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in Williamstown on Aug. 19, 1914, one of 13 children of Simon and Agnes LaMarre, her family moved to Adams and she attended schools there. She moved to Williamstown upon her marriage in 1936, and had resided at The Spruces and Proprietor's Field. She moved to Lenox in August.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Bressett had worked at the former Cornish Wire Co. and at Williams College. She also had been employed by the former Hathaway Mills in Adams as a young girl.
An accomplished seamstress, she also loved to crochet and knit. She was an avid bowler and continued bowling until she was 90. She will be missed by many.
Her husband, Harold Bressett, is deceased.
She leaves two daughters, Patricia Girard of Beaufort, S.C., and Carole Lillie of Friendswood, Texas; a sister, Rita Lively of Wiliamstown; 10 grandchildren, Carrie Girard, Tara Madden, Mark Girard, Jim Lillie, Kelly Wainscott, Keith, Brian, Bruce Keating and Sarah Allsman, 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her eldest daughter, Barbara Keating in August 2008, by her eldest grandchild, Kim Keating, and siblings Loriana Estes, Odessa LaMarre, Rose Reeves, Corinne Bush, Marie Kruszyna and Sister Laura LaMarre, and Simon LaMarre, Alfred LaMarre and Howard LaMarre.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. Bressett will take place Friday at 10 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the Williamstown Food Pantry through the funeral home.
Her family offers a special thanks to Betty and Roger Boudreau of Pownal, Vt., who helped her remain independent at Proprietor's Field, the fourth-floor staff at Berkshire Medical Center, hospice and to Cameron House, for making her last months of life productive and happy.
