Mary R. Chase, 62

SHEFFIELD, Mass. — Mary Ramsay Chase, 62, of Lime Kiln Road died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, at home. Born in New York City on Nov. 26, 1946, daughter of Theodore and Anne Hoguet Chase, she attended local schools, earning a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in stage design from New York University. She was a longtime resident of the Berkshires. Ms. Chase raised Chinese shar-peis for show, winning many ribbons over the years. She was a member of the Great Barrington Kennel Club and a volunteer with the American Kennel club. She had a passion for animals, and owned therapy dogs that she brought to area nursing homes. She also was a member of the Great Barrington and Lenox garden clubs. She leaves her sister, Anne Chase and her husband, Robert Healy, of Washington, D.C.; her brother, George B. Chase of Anchorage, Alaska, and her nephew, Thomas Healy, and niece, Noel Healy, both of Washington. FUNERAL NOTICE — A Funeral Mass in memory of Ms. Chase will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Church by the Rev. Henry Kowalczyk, pastor. There will be no calling hours. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the MSPCA through Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
