John T. Mulder, 79

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — John Thomas Mulder, 79, of 471 East Road died Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Lindenhurst, N.Y., on Aug. 29, 1929, son of John and Ruth Shortmeyer Mulder, he attended schools in Lindenhurst and graduated from Lindenhurst High School. He moved to Clarksburg in 2001. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Mulder was employed by the Sears & Roebuck Co. for more than 30 years, retiring in 1991. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, formerly St. Anthony's Church, in North Adams. He enjoyed fishing, painting, and building models. He and his wife, the former Virginia Cellana, were married July 12, 1968, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Copiague, N.Y. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Joseph J. Mulder and his wife, Lori, of Clarksburg; two brothers, Adrian Mulder of Calverton, N.Y., and Anthony Mulder of Cornwallville, N.Y.; two sisters, Dorothy Grover and Ruth Hendrickson, both of Calverton, N.Y., two granchildren, Vincent John Mulder and Anthony Joseph Mulder, both of Clarksburg, and nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Mulder will be Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 8:15 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will be Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 11 in St. Charles' Cemetery in Farmingdale, N.Y. There will be no calling hours.
