Maria P. Guzzi, 96
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Maria Philomena Guzzi, 96, of 85 Eagle St. died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, at Williamstown Commons.
Born in Migliarina, province of Catanzaro, Italy, on Dec. 27, 1911, daughter of Tommaso and Faustina Cappelli Arcuri, she attended schools in Italy. She emigrated to the United States in 1946 and settled in North Adams, later residing in Saranac Lake, N.Y., for a time.
Mrs. Guzzi was employed at the former Wall-Streeter Shoe Co. until her retirement. Before that, she worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. and the former C.H. Cutting Clothing Store.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church.
Her husband, Frank Guzzi, is deceased.
She leaves a son, Thomas Guzzi and his wife, Anne Marie, of Williamstown, and three grandchildren, Angela Guzzi and John Guzzi, both of Pownal, Vt., and Peter Guzzi of Boston.
She was predeceased by four siblings, Roselba Arcuri, Filice Arcuri, Teresina Arcuri and Frank Arcuri.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Maria Guzzi will be celebrated Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at 11 at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown.
Calling hours at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, will be Friday morning from 9 to 10:30. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Anthony's Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
