Donna Robert Gritz, 74

ADAMS, Mass. — Donna Marie Robert Gritz, 74, of Bayonet Point, Fla., known to everyone as "Smoo" passed away at her home after a long illness.

She was born on February 14, 1951 in Adams to the late Albert and Eileen Robert. She attended Adams Memorial High School graduating with the class of 1969, then graduating from nursing school at McCann in 1970 with a LPN diploma. 

She worked 10 years at North Adams Hospital, 4 years at Andover N.J. Health Care Facility and 36 years at HCA Trinity Hospital in New Port Richey, Fla. until her retirement in 2020. 

She was awarded many awards for her caring of patients, she was an avid reader including every book published by Danielle Steel, she loved to travel going to car shows and drag races,on her days off she would work the counter of her husband's speed shop. 

She is survived by her husband, Craig Gritz, whom she met in 1968 and married on Aug. 25, 1979; sisters Diane Briggs of Savoy and Debbie Lacasse of Adams; step-brother James Roberts (Judy) of Clarksburg; nieces Dawn LaCasse of North Adams, Jaime Koscinski of Midlothian, Va., Heather LaCasse of Dalton, Kim Roberts-Morandi of South Carolina, Becky Goyette from Adams, Tammy Denault of Pittsfield, and Michelle Burke of New Port Richey, Fla.; nephews Corey LaCasse of North Adams and Christopher LaCasse Jr. of North Adams, and sisters-in-law Joan Korte of Adams and Becky Rondeau (Larry) of Hudson, Fla.and several great nieces and nephews.  

Her wishes were for a private service; the family requests the omission of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in her name.
