David Witherell Sr, 76

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  David Witherell, Sr., passed away peacefully at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield on Saturday, November 23, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones, after a long battle with declining health.

Born on January 12, 1948, in North Adams, David was the son of James Arthur Witherell and Ethel Jean (Davis)Witherell. He attended schools in North Adams and went on to work as a highly respected Millwright at Crane in Dalton, where he remained until his retirement.

David was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. He found joy in hunting, fishing, golfing, football, long drives, and cherished vacations with family and friends at Lake Champlain. Above all, he treasured time spent reminiscing with his loved ones. He will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle nature, and unwavering willingness to help others.

David leaves behind his daughter, Lisa Pereira, and her husband, Michael, of North Adams, and his son, David Witherell, Jr., and his wife, Jennifer, of Clarksburg. He also leaves eight grandchildren: Jessica, Jordan, Sienna, Joey, Vivian, Kayila, Christopher, and Dakota; many great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

He is also survived by his dear brother, Richard Witherell, of Dalton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished lifelong friends, including Larry (Billy) Salo, Linda Kosche, and Donny Coe.

David is predeceased by his beloved wife, Donna, whom he married in 1967, his son, Glenn Witherell, and his brothers, James and Robert Witherell.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of North Adams Commons for the loving care they provided to David over the past year.

There will be a service at the family plot, and celebration of David’s life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pop Cares, P.O. Box 482, Williamstown, MA 01267.
