Richard J. Haas, 78

ADAMS, Mass. —

Richard Haas, 78, of Adams, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 18, 2024.

He was born in Adams on July 19, 1946, a son of the late Charlote Haas.

Richard was a beloved father, brother and friend. Richard spent his youth playing football and baseball, which he later coached. His spare time as a kid was spent hunting Farnums or fishing Cheshire Lake with his favorite uncle “Pinky”. An avid farm hand from 11 until 18 when Richard enlisted in the Navy during the Vietnam War.

His years after the navy were spent as a certified welder in the state of Massachusetts. But his favorite job was during retirement working for his brother Craig at CJ’s in Adams, where he could be found talking sports with customers instead of washing dishes. When not working he could be found fishing at one of his two favorite spots, Cheshire Lake or Dukes, or at home watching his beloved Yankees.

His retirement was spent fishing and enjoying time with his family. Most of all he loved spending time playing board games and drinking coffee with his beloved mother.

Survivors include his children, Heath Haas (Lisa), Chris Haas (Amy), Ashley Haas (Jeremy) and Colin Haas (Laina). His siblings, Sue Columbus (Brad), Deb Dean (Gary), Dusty Haas (Laurie), Craig Pekosz (Karen) Peter Haas (Linda) along with several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his mother Charlotte Haas and by his brother Michael Pekosz.

Private burial will be held in the spring with his immediate family.

Memorial donations may be made to Pop Cares, P.O. Box 482, Williamstown, MA 01267.
