Bernadine Phillips, 88
ADAMS, Mass. —
Mrs. Bernadine (Lacy) Phillips, formerly of Adams and Cheshire, died on August 21, 2024 in Saratoga, California.
She was born in Adams on May 21, 1936, a daughter of the late King and Bella (LeClair) Lacy. She attended Adams schools, including the former Adams High School. She later graduated from the C.H. McCann Technical School Post-Graduate program as a Dental Hygienist.
Her first job was at the former Woolworth 5 & 10 Cent Store in Adams. She later worked at the former Sprague Electric Co in North Adams, General Electric in Pittsfield, and the former Fireside Restaurant in Cheshire. She was a successful salesperson for Avon cosmetics for 10 years, selling locally in the Adams area. She was an excellent quilt maker and showed her love of this art with the many beautiful hand-sewn quilts she created.
She lived seasonally in Bradenton, FL for 8 years with her husband Earl Phillips where they enjoyed the winter months and made lifelong friends. During their marriage, she and Earl traveled internally to Ireland and Italy and enjoyed telling stories of their travels. They also enjoyed being with their children and grandchildren in New England and California. They made friends easily and frequently spent time with friends and relatives in Berkshire County.
She will be missed greatly, and we are blessed to have had her in our lives for so long.
She is survived by her children, Linda Barcomb, Diane Decensi and Dean Barcomb; her grandchildren Tyler Barcomb, Jessica Barcomb, Jacob Barcomb, Gabriella Kabat, Jessica Decensi and Jonathan Decensi; her sister, Bessie Gottardi; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 25th at 10:00 AM in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Following the committal service at the cemetery, relatives and friends are invited to join Bernie’s family at the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, to share reflections and memories of her life.
