Irene Martell, 96

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  Irene Corinna (Bressette) Martell, 96 of North Adams, MA died on Friday November 8, 2024 at Williamstown Commons.

She was born in North Adams, MA on November 2, 1928, a daughter of David and Corinna (Lord) Bressette. She graduated from Drury High School.

Irene was primarily a homemaker and was a foster mother for several children over the years. She was devoted to her family, and was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church.

Her husband was Philip Alfred Martell who died on December 2, 1989. They were married on February 19, 1949. Survivors include three daughters Pamela Goewey of North Adams, MA; Cynthia Whiting of Alvarado, TX and Corrina Martell of North Adams, MA and one son, Philip L. Martell of North Adams, MA. She also leaves twenty-two grandchildren; and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren including her granddaughter, Amanda Goewey and her great granddaughter, Liah Goewey who were among those who helped care for her; and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Nicole Murillo and four sisters are deceased, Dawn Swanson, Jacqueline Joseph, Marie Charron and Lillian Rose Bressette.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Irene Martell will be celebrated Wednesday November 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will be at a later date in Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA.
