Blanche C. Hoellerich, 95

CHESHIRE, Mass. —  Blanche C. (Kolis) Hoellerich, 95, of Cheshire died on November 2nd at Williamstown Commons with family at her side. Born in Adams on September 22, 1929, daughter of the late Matthew and Catherine Kolis, she attended Adams schools, graduated from the former Adams High School and was a communicant of St. John Paul II at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.

She and her 12 siblings were proud first-generation Polish Americans, raised with an appreciation for hard work and big family celebrations. Fondly known as “Blinky,” she was happily wed to George “Butch” Hoellerich from June 12, 1948 until his death in 1998. Together they helped make Ayrhill Farms in Adams a successful family dairy business, along with creating special family times to enjoy the fruits of labor that come with the farming life. Blanche had early work experiences at the former Berkshire Mills, as a school cafeteria worker, and later as a volunteer at the Adams Charity Center.

Most notably, she was well-known by many as the energetic and efficient Ayrhill Farms “milk lady,” reliably delivering freshly bottled milk to her appreciative Adams customers for over 25 years. She wrote the book on customer service, and her blonde up-do and green pickup truck were always a welcome sight around town!

Blanche is survived by three daughters, Linda Lohman (Brad) of Williamstown, Judith Fitzgibbons (Thomas) of Marlborough, CT, and Debra Hoellerich (partner Paul Conlin) of Richmond, three grandchildren; Andrea Ehrlich, John Fitzgibbons (Kelly), and Caitlin Layfield (Chris), step-grandson Lance Lohman (Allie); great-grandaughter Chloe Mae Layfield, step-great-grandson Lakoa Lohman; one sister, Jane Gilman of Adams, sister-in-law Ruth Hoellerich, brother in-law Roy Hoellerich (Florence) and many loving nieces and nephews. Blanche was pre-deceased by her husband George, her parents, six brothers (Edmond, William, Theodore, Francis, Donald and Fred; five sisters (Adele Carignan, Isabelle Lanski, Lillian Blazejewski, Mildred Zatorski, Ilene LaFrance) and son-in-law Dean Fulco.

A memorial celebration of her life will be held at a future date, and donations in her name may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, Inc., 877 South Street Suite 1W, Pittsfield, MA 01201. A favorite quote below, always on display in her kitchen, sums up her strength of spirit and lifelong positive attitude:

“I have competed well, I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.”

It Saddens me to hear of Blinky's passing. I loved growing up being related to the Hoellerichs and loved every minute I got visiting with them alot wether it was Holidays, delivering milk with her and Aunt Vickey as a kid, hanging out at the farm, all those great snowmobiling rides, the laughs and great times that I'll cherish forever, etc. I miss all of them that have passed. Blinky and the rest of family were the best !!!

Linda, Judy and Deb, so so sorry for your loss. You know that your mom had a special place in our hearts. Growing up with you girls on the farm, she always made me feel welcomed, She always had hot chocolate for us after sliding in the winter and cool drinks for us in the summer. Best of all was she took us on her milk routes so we could "help" her. So glad we got to see her and spend some time with her and all of you a few years back. God Bless

The Hoellerich Family,
Sorry to read of Blanche's passing. "Blinky" was a woman filled with pride and dignity. She was a loving wife and mother. Along with the members of the Hoellerich Family, she invested her time and energy in making the "Ayrhill Farm" one of the most picturesque and well run "small" dairy farms in the region. Your hard and dedicated work has now ended, but the legacy of your families farm lives forever . Rest in Peace; Sincerely, Joe

An amazing role model, Ciocia(aunt) and
all around fun person. I was always greeted with a big smile and welcoming words. One of my Dads favorite sisters. She brought such life to any gathering. I enjoyed many conversations about growing up in a family of 13. You will be greatly missed. The memories of sitting on your Front Porch at the farm, with you and my Mom Mary Jane, looking at Mt. Greylockd having fun will be with me forever. I love you Cioc. ??

I loved Blinky. She was our milk lady for years along with Flossie. Growing up, I always thought that those were the names of the cows at her farm. I worked with her for many years in the clothing department at the SJP Charity Center. She always greeted everyone with her unique voice, a smile and such graciousness. She was a grand lady who will be missed by everyone who knew her. My sympathies to all of her family and friends.

I only knew your mom for a short time but during that time it became obvious that she was a warm, caring compassionate woman. You couldn't help but immediately love her. My sincere condolences to you and your family.
